Keynote talk title: Decoding functional signalling with personalized phosphoproteomics
Dr Humphrey is Head of the Functional Phosphoproteomics Laboratory at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI). His research focuses on applying mass spectrometry technologies to identify new treatments for childhood diseases. Throughout his career, he has made important contributions to our understanding of cell signalling networks, has pioneered mass spectrometry-based methods for studying global signalling (‘phosphoproteomics’), and has applied these methods to diverse biological fields.
After completing his PhD in Biochemistry at the University of New South Wales, Dr Humphrey was awarded a prestigious EMBO postdoctoral fellowship and undertook post-doctoral training with Professor Matthias Mann at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry (Martinsried, Germany). Dr Humphrey has co-authored several landmark studies in phosphoproteomics, including the first time-resolved analyses of insulin signalling, and circadian rhythms in vivo, and is the recipient of the 2023 Peter Doherty Award and the 2024 Commonwealth Health Minister’s Award for the top-ranked NHMRC Investigator Grant in Australia.
