Plenary talk title: Advancing the Study and Practical Use of Microalgae Euglena
Dr. Kengo Suzuki holds dual Ph.D. degrees,one in Agriculture from the University of Tokyo (2016) and another in Medical Science from Kitasato University (2019). A co-founder of Euglena Co., Ltd., he has been instrumental in pioneering large-scale cultivation methodsfor Euglena, a microalgae with diverse applications in biofuels, nutrition, and pharmaceuticals. His groundbreaking work has significantly advanced the field of microalgae biotechnology, positioning Euglena as a key player in addressing global challenges such as sustainable energy and human health.Currently, Dr. Suzuki serves as the Team Leader of the Microalgae Resource Upcycling Research Laboratory at RIKEN in Yokohama, Japan, where his research focuses on enhancing microalgae production for industrial applications. Additionally, he is a Professor at Tohoku University and a Visiting Professor at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, fostering international collaborations to drive innovation in microalgae research.
