Plenary talk title: Development of Metabolomics Using Capillary Electrophoresis Mass Spectrometry and its Application to Cancer
Dr. Tomoyoshi Soga graduated from Faculty of Engineering, Keio University and received his Ph.D. from Toyohashi University of Technology in 2000. After working for Yokogawa Electric Corporation and Yokogawa Analytical Systems Corporation, he became an associate professor at the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies and the Institute for Advanced Biosciences at Keio University in 2001, a professor in 2006, and a professor (concurrently) at the Faculty of Medicine at Keio University in 2008. He is a developer of capillary electrophoresis mass spectrometry (CE-MS) based metabolomics and founded Human Metabolome Technologies, Inc. in 2003.
Using this method, he has developed applied research to explore metabolic pathways, elucidate metabolic regulatory mechanisms, elucidate gene and protein functions, elucidate metabolism in cancer and disease, and search for low molecular weight biomarkers.
